Happy Pink Saturday

I'm back for Pink Saturday after a short vacation.  For this week I have decided to share two of my current projects.  The first is a ripple afghan.  The second is the back of my March table runner from the Fresh and Fancy table runner of the month.  I had hoped to have the top completed also but we had a family cookout in our backyard on Friday.  I was busy with preparations and didn't quite finish the top so I decided to share the pattern picture with you.

I posted my January table runner earlier in the week.  The table runner series is by Cotton Way.  I purchased the kits from Fat Quarter.com.  So far I'm very impressed with the kits I have received.  The fabrics are from Moda.  The fabric for the table runner above is Moda's Spring Fever.  Don't you just love all the spring colors (especially the pinks).

Table Runner

I am back in blogland after a vacation.  I just completed this top for a tablerunner.  I joined the Fresh and Fancy Table Runner of the Month club by Cotton Way at Fat Quarter Shop.com.   This the is January table runner.  I completed the top and the back yesterday.  Later this week I will add the backing and do the machine quilting.  Thus far I have been impressed with the kits.  They include more than enough fabric for the project.  Not like some kits where the fabric is cut so close that one little miscue and the project is trash. 

The fabric for this table runner is Simple Abundance by Moda.  It is reversible as are all the table runners.  One side is "Fresh" and the other "Fancy".   I will post a photo of the back after the runner is completed.   I am now working on the March table runner.  It is so bright and springy.  I have the back completed and now it's time for the front.  Since it has a number of pink fabrics, I plan to post a pic for Pink Saturday later the week.

Cody our Rescue Dog

I just had to post this picture of our Cody.  I posted about him 6 weeks ago.  We adopted him from a rescue organization in February.  Isn't he just the cutest little thing.  One of his favorite resting spots is on our bed.  He loves to sit (or lay) on top of the pillows on the bed.  I thought you might enjoy this pic. 

He is the most mellow and well behaved dog.  We would love to know his story since he was picked up as a stray.  He has a chip but the phone number was disconnected.  We are so lucky to have him.  We think he was an apartment dog.  At first he was a little intimidated by the big back yard but he is adjusting.  We're not sure he was ever allowed to roam off leash. 

Family in Fabric Cousins

This is my third Family in Fabric page.  This is a photo of my oldest cousins, Bobby and Joyce.  The picture had the date of May 11, 1944 written on the back by my Aunt Ruby.  I just love their little outfits.  I had this vintage pattern that is very similar to their outfits.  The pattern is dated 1943.  The little applique pattern was still in the pattern envelope.  I decided to do tailor tacks through the holes (just like my Aunt Ruby would have done when making the pattern).  The old patterns had no writing on the tissue pattern pieces.  To make the patterns, the seamstress would use tailor's tacks.   The blue background fabric is from a vintage apron and I added the middy braid.

Embellishments on this page include vintage Oh Baby pearl buttons, hooks and eyes that had a price tag of 15 cents, a vintage button, safety pins, and a red felt applique bunny.  I also included a transparency of part of the instruction sheet.  These are such fun.  I will be binding the edges with seam binding when I have more pages completed.

Another Refashioned Necklace

I made this refashioned necklace for my sister's birthday.  It is made from a vintage Trifari necklace and a vintage cameo pin.  The medallion is crocheted from a black floral cotton print.  I gave her the option of selecting one of my other refashioned pieces but she liked this one.  She was impressed with how very lightweight the necklace is and she will be comfortable wearing it all day.  I enjoy going through my vintage jewelry stash and finding just the right pieces for my refashioned jewelry.  (Using items from my studio is one of my goals for the year) 

Vintage Birthday Wishes

My sister's birthday is next week.  I decided this was a good time to share with you a few of my vintage Birthday cards.  Five of them have been mailed and three have postdates of 1910.   One is posted 1913 and the other 1914.  The penny stamps are still on the back of the card.  Most were mailed from Ohio.  The sister card was never mailed but appears to be from the same date.  All are embossed.  I love the vintage images on the cards.  I think my favorite is the bottom card with the birds.  I have over 30 vintage Birthday cards in my collection.  Hope you enjoy seeing these cards as I wish my sister a Happy Birthday. 

Easter quilting

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY

This week we are posting Easter Pink and Yellow.  I hope the oranges qualify as yellow (after all orange is yellow + red) 

I made these little Easter quilts last year and decided to share them with you.  The pattern for the Easter Bunny Quilt was in a quilting magazine last spring.  I don't remember which one.  The bunnies and tails are applique.  I purchased the fabric at Granny's Attic.  Granny's was my favorite quilt store in Kentucky but went out of business last summer.  Another victim of the economy. 

The quilted egg is made of fabric strips from my stash.  I used the strip quilting method.  I also made the carrot tablerunner with the same method.  It's fun to get out the Easter quilts and use then during the Easter season.  Happy Quilting and Happy Pink Saturday.
