CINCO DE MAYO QUILT

The theme for our May swap on Fabric in Altered Arts 2 is Cinco De Mayo.  The swap is hosted by Norma.  We were to create an art quilt approximately 12" x 12" for the swap.  This is my quilt.

I discovered a link to the video instructions for Teesha Moore fabric journal techniques   When I saw the videos I knew I wanted to use this technique for my Cinco De Mayo quilt.  A big thanks to Wanda from FAT for the link.  I am pleased with the art quilt.  It's a great way to use up those little pieces of fabric left over from previous project.

Faces on Fabric Quilt Draft

This is a sketch of the quilt I hope to make for my project in the class Faces on Fabric. The size is 16" square. Next week we will make templates for the quilt. I am really enjoying this class. Fun to sketch the faces. Today I also sketched the flower and butterflies.

Two More Faces

I'm now experimenting with hair. I had difficulty sketching hair last night so I decided to experiment with ways to do hair. I think I worry too much about how I will make a template for the hair when we do the quilt. Tomorrow I hope to decide on a face to use on my quilt. We can add other elements if we wish. I'm thinking of maybe adding a flower. I'll see how it goes. Next week we will take our sketch and make the templates.

UFO quilt finished

This little quilt has been in the UFO stack for sometime. The fabric and pattern are from the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. My friend purchased them while on vacation a few years ago. I began the quilt and then we had a family crisis. Now I've finished the wonderful little quilt.

The original pattern called for additional fabrics but I decided to make it small and use just the fabric Susan brought me. I quilted a motif on the four large squares with my Janome 11000. One square was light and the pattern doesn't show up but I still love it. Remainder of quilt is machine quilted.
