Altered Couture "Apron-All"

This is my second item in the Winter Altered Couture magazine. The Apron-All was made from a pair of thrifted child's overalls and a vintage apron. I removed the pocket from the apron and added to the bib of the overall. When I purchased the apron, I thought it was a child's apron but I've since learned that many vintage aprons are smaller than those of today. I did make the waistband smaller to fit the waistband of the overall. I also used a red sharpie to add detail to the buttons. This item will be available in my Etsy store when it is returned from Stampington's.

Good News From Altered Couture

Just received an email today from Beth at Altered Couture. The item I sent for the Spring issue has been accepted for publication. This is a partial photo of the before items. You'll have to wait until February to see my "Altered Couture Creation".

I only sent one item for the Spring issue. Guess you can't get better than one for one. In baseball that's batting 1000. (Wish our Diamondbacks could get near 300!) This just isn't their year. We went to last the game of the season on Sunday. Think all are glad to get this one over and think about next spring.
You can check out my two items in the upcoming Winter Issue of Altered Couture magazine. It's due in the bookstores on November 1st.
Also have an item in Belle Armoire magazine due out around November 1st also. It's so much fun to see your creations published in living color. They have such great photographers at the magazines. They make my work look so good!

Good News from Altered Couture

When we returned from vacation, I had emails from Altered Couture magazine. Two of my items have been selected for publication in their Fall issue. I sent in two items and both were selected as technique articles. I very pleased and now I have to write the techniques articles. One item was an embellished wool sweater and the other a child's denim.

Altered Shoes - Golden Fiesta

I recently recieved an email from the editor of Altered Couture Magazine encouraging me to submit altered shoes for their Spring issue. This is a sneek peak at the altered shoes that I submitted. I call them "Golden Fiesta". They began as a pair of gold leather pumps and were embellished. The finished shoe reminded me of a fiesta. So "Golden Fiesta" they became. Won't know for a few months if they are accepted for publication. This is my first pair of altered shoes.

Skirt is Back from Altered Couture Magazine

My Going Green Skirt arrived in the mail yesterday from Altered Couture just in time to display at Bernina Southwest. I will be teaching a class on how-to make a skirt just like the one feathered in the fall issue of Altered Couture magazine. The class is called "Glitzy Jean Skirt" and is offered as a two session class in October at Bernina Southwest. Check out their schedule of classes here and click on the classes tab for more information. I'm looking forward to teaching again after the summer off. I hope to add more classes as time allows.

I'm being published in Altered Couture magazine!

I'm going to be published in the Fall issue of Altered Couture Magazine. It is due out in August. Today I found out that I will have a Retro Denim vest published in the Winter 2008 issue of Altered Couture and that at the present time I will have an item published in the Spring 2009 issue. The spring issue could change because it is so early but they have selected an item to include. I'm so excited. The denim skirt that will be in the Fall issue is the first thing I submitted to the magazine. The denim vest is the second item. Not bad. Two for Two. I did submit two additional items. I'm not sure which one they selected for the Spring issue. I'll post a picture of the actual page when I receive my copy of the magazine.
I'm still walking on air!!!!
