Yesterday's Project

Yesterday I completed this little table runner.  It is made from Moda Tapestry Charm Pack.  My friend gave me the charm pack for Christmas.  The pattern is from the book Charmed and Dangerous  by Heather Peterson.  It was a quick project.  The batting, backing, and binding are from my stash (that's my goal).
I used the "stitch-in-the-ditch" quilting method but left the two center squares.  I'm planning to try out my new AcuFil Quilting program for my Janome 12000 and add a decorative motif in the center of each square.  This will be my first experience using AcuFil Quilting.  I'll let you know how it goes and post a photo.

It's good to be back in the creative mode after almost three weeks of ill health!

Jelly Roll Quilt

I finally completed this small jelly roll quilt.  Shown here on the park bench in our backyard.  It is a college graduation gift for a cousin's daughter.  I purchased the jelly rolls at Fat Quarter.Com and the pattern is from a friend's jelly roll quilt book.  Sorry I don't know the name of the book or the pattern.  I should have noted those before returning the book.

I did free-motion quilting on this quilt.  It isn't a true stippling.  My friend calls it meandering.  I would just call it free-motion.  I did use my Bernina 165 for the quilting.  I prefer quilting with this machine since it is housed in my large Koala Quilting Cabinet.  I debated on color for the binding and finally decided on this Moda blue fabric.  I'm very pleased with the results.  Quilt measures 46" x 58".  It could be used as a wallhanging, throw, or lap quilt.

Fresh and Fancy Table Runner of the Month

This year I joined the Cotton Way Fresh and Fancy table runner series from the Fat Quarter Shop.  Kits are shipped each month.  They are complete with all the fabric needed to make both sides of the table runner and binding.  You just supply the batting.  I have found them to be great little projects for my time at our vacation home in KY since everything I need is in the package.  I must admit that I do not complete each table runner as they are sent.  I completed the one above in October and it is actually the February one.

I love the Moda fabrics that are included in each kit.  I also completed another runner in October and will share it tomorrow.  They will make wonderful Christmas gifts for some of the special people on my list.

Today's Project

This is my project for today.  I continue to use fabric from my stash.  This lovely Monkey fabric was purchased at a little quilt shop in Danville, Kentucky last fall.  The fabric is Monkey'n Round by Moda.  I don't remember the name of the shop but it was right on the town square and filled with beautiful fabrics.  Yesterday I found this great book at JoAnn's and decided to try one of the simple little bags from the book.  I'll post the finished purse later.  I had my Featherweight serviced last week and was told to bring it home and sew with it.  So I'm following orders!  LOL!

My GD wants to learn to sew this summer and I decided I would have her use the Featherweight since it is small and simple.  We are planning on doing the classes in July.  I'm going to make a special place for her in my garage (it's air conditioned) with a table set to her height.  I think this will be easier than having her sew at my Koala cabinet.  She is looking forward to learning to sew and wants to make a pillow as the first project.
