Alphabet Quiltie - "X" marks the spot

This is my "X" quiltie for the alphabet quiltie swap on the Yahoo Group Fabric in Altered Art 2.  We only have two more to go.  We began two years ago next month.  It has been fun.  I plan to make a little book with all my quilties.

I decided to use the theme - X marks the spot for my X quiltie.  I downloaded the treasure map.  I used Photo shop to add the words and then printed it on fabric.  I  added stitching with red embroidery floss and embellished with two coins and a lock from a little vintage cedar chest.

I have been out of town for a few weeks but will continue to share previous alphabet quilties later this week.

Black and White Trench

This is the article from Belle Armoire magazine that I told you about earlier. The article is written by Amanda Crabtree. My trench is the top one with the white pockets and trim. This is one of the first items I submitted to Somerset magazines. Since I hadn't heard from them for over a year and a half. I assumed they weren't going to use the trench. I was surprised when I received the email telling me that it was going to be published. The article is actually three pages. The last page has two photos of details of my coat. The trench is made from a thrifted vintage designer trench and a white formal gown. It really looks great in the magazine, don't you think?

Faces Lesson Four Completed

I'm finally back to my Faces Quilt. I just completed Lesson 4. In lesson four we stitched down all the parts of the quilt and stitched the features on the face. So far I really like the little Faces Quilt. The next step is to add the paint. This part is rather scary for me. I think I'll do a few practice samples before I actually put paint on the face fabric. Wish me luck.

"D" is for Dove

This is my quiltie for September in Fabric in Altered Art 2. We are going through the alphabet and this month's letter was "D". My goal was to have the quiltie look like a stain glass window. I think I achieved my goal. I'm quite pleased with the little quilt. Now it goes in the mail to Penny our trade hostess.

April Fabric Postcard

I am working to complete my April swaps for my Yahoo groups. I have been experiencing dental problems for the past two weeks so I am a little behind with my swaps. This fabric postcard is for Norma in the Fabric In Altered Art 2 group. I began by doing a machine embroidery. I thought the blue flowers and green leaves looked like spring. I then decided to add some embellishments. The entire card is covered with pink tulle. I encased some little pearls behind the tulle. The pearls actually move around as you move or shake the card. I really like how the card looks rather elegant. This is the first time that I have encased items in tulle on a postcard. I hope they make it through the mail o.k.
