It's Pink Saturday

Little girls in Pink Dresses

For Pink Saturday I am sharing some of my vintage dress patterns.  Each features a little girl's dress in pink. I love the images on these old pattern envelopes.  It's hard to resist then when I see then in the thrift stores.  I have a collection of vintage patterns that my sister and I use in our craft projects.  Our most recent project is our Family in Fabric book.  You can see one of the pages here.  I have compiled the items for three more pages and hope to work on them this weekend.

Thanks to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for organizing Pink Saturday.  Check her blog for a list of participants in this weeks Pink Saturday.

Inchies on Painted Canvas

Diana on Fiber Art Traders (FAT) recently asked members to post ideas for inchies.  This is a painted canvas with inchies from a Christmas inchie swap on Fabric in Altered Arts a few years ago.  Even though it is Christmas, it hangs on my studio wall all year.  I'm inspired by all the work that went into these little works of art.

Purple Vintage Linen Pillowcover

Today I am going to work on a vintage linen pillowcover for my daughter-in-law's birthday.  Her favorite color is purple.  I found these vintage linens in my stash.  Each contains purple and were purtchased at thrift stores.  I decided to use new quilter's cotton as the background.  I also backed the cotton with a piece of cottton duck for stability.  This photo shows the final  placement (I think) of the linens.  Once I have attached the vintage linens, I will add a pillow back of the purple fabric.  I will describe my attachment method in a later post as it is a work in progress.  My concern is to attach the crochet items without having stitches pullout where it was cut.  This is my first attempt at a project like this.  So far I'm happy with the way it looks. I hope to have a finished pillowcover to show you later today.  Wish me luck!

Fabric Christmas Cookie Swap

Norma is hosting a Fabric Christmas Cookie Swap on Fabric in Altered Arts 2. The inspiration was an article in the 2009 holiday issue of quilting Arts Gifts (No Bake Treats). I found the most difficult part was clipping and turning the edges to the back of the cookie before attaching the back. I tried three glues and didn't find any of them to do a great job. My Ultimate Glue usually works on all projects but didn't stick well on this one. I think the issue may have been that gel medium was applied to the fabric and it become almost plastic-like. And we all know how much fun it is to glue plastic.

I am however pleased with the results. This is the 6 cookies that will be mailed to Norma. I made a dozen cookies plan to use the others I made a gift tags.

Another Trimmed Tag

This is my second tag for the Trimmed Tag swap on Fabric in Altered Arts. All the trim is from my stash of vintage trims. Attached to the trim are two vintage goldtone buttons and a clip earring. One more to go before mailing to Cathy, the hostess of the swap.

Pretty Party Dresses

These six wonderful little "Party Dresses" are from a swap on Fabric in Altered Arts 2. They arrived in the mail today. Aren't they wonderful. I have them hanging above my studio door and they look so festive. I think this is one of my favorite swaps. Cathy, the hostess, even included little clothes pins to hang the dresses. You can see my Party Dress here.
