St. Patrick's Day Fabric Postcards

I finally had some time to play in my studio.  I found this cute St. Patty's Day fabric at JoAnn's last week.  I thought it would be perfect for some St. Patrick's fabric postcards.  I embellished with a little glitter glue.  The address side is bright green.   Hope it goes through the postal system without problems.  I made four of these cards but plan to make a couple more this afternoon.

Next week is Spring Break for the granddaughters.  They are excited to "Sew with Mema".  The oldest is making a simple skirt and the youngest is making p.j. bottoms.  I made samples and they tried them on yesterday.  We are going to select fabric this afternoon after church.  It's fun to see how excited they are to learn to sew.  I'll be posting about the experience next week.

Fabric Postcards and Pink Saturday

As I was browsing through my files this week.  I discovered my Fabric Postcards and thought they would make a great Pink Saturday post.  Each of these fabric postcards was mailed through the USPS.  Some I place in a plastic sleeve purchased from Walmart, put a first class stamp on them, and drop in the mailbox.  I do reinforce the edges with clear shipping tape.  I have never had a problem.  If they have thick embellishments, then I put them in a padded envelope and mail at the PO.

Each card above represents a different technique (from top to bottom):  machine embroidery and enclosures;
fused applique silhouette and stamping; needlefelted fibers and angelina;  needlefelted fabric pieces and yarns; and paper piecing and stamping.

December Fabric Postcards

The postcard above is on it's way to Florida.  It is for the December Fabric Postcard Swap on Fabric in Altered Arts 2.  Recently we have been exchanging postcards every two months.  We have a themed exchange on alternate months. 

For this card, I used PelTex as the base.  I covered the Peltex with a red fabric and then added an applique cut from Christmas fabric.  I added glitter around the edge of the applique and stamped "DEC 25" randomly on the fabric.

I made the postcard above for a Blogland friend.  Hope she likes it.

Irish Blessing Fabric Postcard

I have been organizing and decluttering my studio.  It is a long process but I can see a little progress.  As I was sorting yesterday, I found this uncompleted fabric postcard.   I decided to finish it and send to friends.  We recently spent a lovely two days at their home in the mountains.  It will be a thank you card and will go in the mail tomorrow.  The gold embellishment on the card was a gift from Constance from Fiber Art Traders (FAT).  It worked perfectly for the postcard. 

As I sort fabric, I have identified a few pieces that I will use for fabric postcards.  I'm still attempting to use my stash whenever possible.

Fabric Postcards

I recieved these two fabric postcards recently. Aren't they lovely? The autumn themed card with the lovely pic of boats is from Pam C. in Maine. She took the photo on a trip to the coast of Maine. This was for the October postcard swap on Fabric in Altered Arts 2.

The Frida postcard is from Anne in CA. It was for the Day of the Dead postcard trade on Fiber Art Traders. Thanks to Anne and Pam.

Great Mail Day - Trimmed Tags and Fabric Postcard

Today was a great mail day. The postcard is from Norma. Isn't it great. The Trimmed Tags are from Kathie, Cathy, and Marilyn. Both swaps are with the Fabric in Altered Arts 2 Group. It's always fun to get these little treasures in the mail. You can see one of my trimmed tags here.

July Postcard from Norma

I've been away from my blog for most of the week. Busy week with many activities. Great to see friends and family. I realized that I had not posted the wonderful card I received from Norma. Norma is a very creative member of the Fabrics in Altered Arts Yahoo Group. I love getting her work. She is also the fabric postcard swap hostess. Isn't the card lovely?

May Fabric Postcard

This fabric postcard arrived today from Dott a member of the Fabric in Altered Arts 2 group. It is difficult to see all the decorative stitching done with metallic thread. It is a lovely postcard. You can see my May fabric postcard for this swap here.
