Inchies on Painted Canvas

Diana on Fiber Art Traders (FAT) recently asked members to post ideas for inchies.  This is a painted canvas with inchies from a Christmas inchie swap on Fabric in Altered Arts a few years ago.  Even though it is Christmas, it hangs on my studio wall all year.  I'm inspired by all the work that went into these little works of art.

Composition Journal Cover

We recently had a composition journal trade on FAT (Fiber Art Traders).  This is the front and back of the journal I received from Merrie Jo.  Isn't it lovely.  We were to decorate the front and back of your standard composition journal.  I plan to use the journal when we are on our Mexican Riveria cruise.  It will be inspiring to write in such a lovely journal.  You can see to journal I sent to Merrie Jo  here.

I finally decided to use some of the "stuff" in my studio (a goal for 2010) to make the journal cover. The cover is made of leftovers from a Cowgirl fabric book my sister and I made a couple of years ago. The "stuff" was still together in a box. I'm quite pleased with the journal cover. It is removable and the pocket on the front could be used to hold a pen, pencil, or other journaling items. We will receive our trade partners on Wednesday. I'm anxious to see which journal I receive in return.

Holiday Flat Doll Trade

My Last Trade in 2009

This is my flat doll for the Holiday Flat Doll Trade on F.A.T. (Fiber Art Traders). She is a combination of three different images. Arms are from one, and face and legs are from Dover images. The inspiration for this doll was the delicate green leaves that I received recently from Gretchen (also a FATie). They reminded me of skirt. I then set to work designing the doll. The bodice is a piece of vintage jewelry. Requirements for the swap were that the doll include something green, metal, and a button. There is metal on the jewelry, the button is in her hair, and her skirt is green. Now I wait until the first of the week to find out the name of my trade partner.

I displayed her on my breakfast nook tree just to see how she would look. She was fun to make. Maybe next year I will make some ornaments from my collection of vintage jewelry.

Felt Like Fall Fabric Postcard

This is my Felt Like Fall Fabric Postcard for a trade on Fiber Art Traders (FAT). This is the final postcard in a set of the four seasons. You can find my winter and spring here, and summer here. The trade is hosted by Gretchen. She promises a goodie bag to those of us who have participated in all four trades. This has been a fun trade. I've used my Husky Star ER 10 for some of the postcards. This postcard has a layered felt leaf. It gives it a 3-D effect. I then sprinkled mica chips on the top layer to represent the sparkle of frost early in the morning.

5 x 5 Challenge Accepted by Art Quilting Studio

Just received news that our 5 x 5 Challenge quilties have been accepted for publication in Art Quilting Studio. Art Quilting Studio is one of the Somerset Magazines. Leilani was the trade hostess and she is responsible for getting the little 5 x 5's published. It will be fun to wait and see which of the quilties are actually photographed. It's possible mine won't be published but I'm hoping. They will go in the mail this week.

These were a Challenge trade on Fiber Art Traders (FAT). My Love quiltie (the denim heart) was voted the best Love 5 x 5.
